# FileZone

> FileZone is a free, 100% client-side file converter. All conversions 
> happen locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. 
> No files are uploaded to any server. No account required. No tracking.

## What it does
FileZone converts files between formats directly in the browser, with no 
server involved. It uses a combination of browser-native APIs, JavaScript 
libraries, and WebAssembly depending on the conversion type.

- PDF → PNG (each page as image) — PDF.js (pdfjs-dist)
- PDF → Split (extract individual pages) — pdf-lib
- PDF → Text — PDF.js native text extraction (pdfjs-dist)
- Excel → CSV — SheetJS (xlsx)
- Excel → JSON — SheetJS (xlsx)
- CSV → Excel — SheetJS (xlsx)
- JPEG → PNG — Canvas API (browser-native)
- PNG → WebP — Canvas API (browser-native)
- SVG → PNG — Canvas API (browser-native)
- Image → AVIF — Canvas API (browser-native)
- Video → MP3 — ffmpeg-core.wasm
- Video → GIF — ffmpeg-core.wasm
- ZIP → Extract — JSZip

## Privacy
- Zero uploads: files never leave the browser
- Zero accounts: no login, no email
- Zero tracking: no analytics, no cookies

## AI Agent Compatibility (WebMCP)
FileZone exposes native WebMCP tools via `navigator.modelContext`.
AI agents with browser integration can invoke file conversions directly,
without uploads, without a server.

Exposed tools:
- convert_file(file, targetFormat) — converts a file to the target format
- list_supported_formats() — returns all available input/output format pairs
- get_file_info(file) — analyses a file and returns its available conversions

All operations are client-side. Files never leave the user's device.
Compatible with Chrome 149+ (Origin Trial) and Edge 147+.

## Authentication
FileZone requires no account, no login, and no registration.
There is nothing to authenticate. auth.md and agent registration
protocols are intentionally not implemented.
